Sture Lonnerstrand was born in Sweden on March 13, 1919. Part of his education
was at the University of Lund where he studied medicine, psychology, art
history, Nordic languages, Greek, Hebrew and especially Sanscrit. He began his
career as a journalist while still at the University, and has been a freelance
journalist, author and artist, most of his life. He published his first
collection of poetry in 1939, followed by several more collections, plays and
novels. He was granted the Bonnier Publishers' Novel Award in 1954.
He has traveled extensively in different parts of the world both as an author
and journalist. He is very familiar with Indian culture, religion and yoga. Also
he has an extensive knowledge of Sanscrit which has helped him immensely in his
Indian studies.
At the end of the 1950's, he wrote a series of articles about "Shanti Devi"
which were published in nine languages. He was the first person in the western
world to take an interest in the case of "Shanti Devi". Her story is
now included in many compilations of famous cases of reincarnation.
A Statement by Shanti Devi:
With this statement I clarify that the Swedish author, Mr. Sture Lonnerstrand of
Stockholm, has my full personal confidence regarding my case of reincarnation.
He alone has the actual intimate information.
Mr. Lonnerstrand is my only agent and representative in connection with
distribution of my life story from all points of view in whatever form it will
be, now and for the future.
Any other person who tries to distribute, tell or sell information about me and
my case without his permission is doing it without my authority.
Delhi, September 30, 1957. (Signed) Shanti Devi Mathur
